Brennstoffzellen-Schüler-Wettbewerb für Schleswig-Holstein und Hamburg
Fuel Cell Box Schleswig-Holstein 2009
Schirmherr: Dr. Werner Marnette, Minister für Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Verkehr
des Landes Schleswig-Holstein

Powered by Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR, Starnberg

Fuel cell-student competition for Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg
Fuel Cell Box 2009 Schleswig-Holstein
Patron: Dr. Werner Marnette, Minister for Science, Economics and Transport
of Schleswig-Holstein

Powered by Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR, Starnberg

Winning teams from Kiel, Glinde and Hamburg

Pupils from the German Laenders (states) Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, had at this competition, not only to deal with abstract issues about fuel cell technology, but could also achieve practically knowledge with current fuel cells, in creatively tackling the task to solve practical challenges and compete with the other student teams in a thrilling finale. Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR is a sponsor for this student competition.

The task was to design a model ferry boat with a fuel cell on board, powered with hyrogen, which was produced environmentally friendly by solar cells. Schools that qualified for the first selection received the necessary components for fuel cell technology free of charge. These now can be kept by the schools, they may be used in future in the classrooms.

The student competition, which was organized by h-tec Hydrogen Energy Systems GmbH, Lübeck, was finished in June 2009 with the awarding of the best works on the stage of the BMW Harbor as part of Kiel Week in Germany. The event was moderated by Ulrich Walter from Team Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR.

The students had the opportunity to showcase their fuel-cell models. From the 37 participating student teams from Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, the following schools came off as the winners:

1. Käthe-Kollwitz-Schule, Kiel
2. Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium, Hamburg
3. High School Glinde, Glinde

"It's always exciting to see the high commitment the young people are showing in renewable energy and in approaching fuel cell technology.
This ensures to find the future engineers and scientists to achieve further development as a provider of hydrogen and fuel cell technology", said Uwe Küter, CEO of h-tec Hydrogen Energy Systems GmbH from Luebeck, Germany. Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR, one of the sponsors of this action, added: "We are supporting these actions also to encourage new ideas and show and discuss new ways to come to unexpected results!"

Another highlight of the event was a race with the fuel cell ferry models in the BMW Harbor in Kiel, Germany.
The Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium in Hamburg made the running here. The competition has been supported by the initiative "Future Sea" by the state government of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR from Starnberg, and from BMW AG in Munich, Germany.
